Oh, I love this! And it’s a good reminder on…
Change. Just the word can send shivers down your spine. But it’s inevitable. Last week, I not only had to change the time I leave for work (summer’s over), but I had to change the way I sleep (my right shoulder is giving me grief). I know these aren’t big changes, but they still represent an inability to cling to the familiar, like our phones before an update.
With change comes resistance. This is the problem. We resist it because, let’s face it, the familiar is cozy. Why mess with something when it *sort of* works?
But here’s the kicker: clinging to the familiar can be like wearing the same shoes every day—they fit, but eventually, they’re going to start hurting your feet. Change, though uncomfortable, is how we grow. It’s like life’s way of giving us a nudge (or sometimes a full-on shove) towards something better.
Sure, change can mess with your perfectly curated routine. It might challenge what you thought was solid and pull you way out of your comfort zone. But think about it this way—if you never left your comfort zone, you’d still be wearing bell-bottoms and thinking “texting” was just another term for writing an essay. And nobody wants that.
Instead of seeing change as an enemy, think of it as that quirky friend who drags you on random adventures. Sometimes it’s awkward, sometimes you trip, but in the end, you’ve got stories to tell and growth to show for it. Whether it’s a new job, a shift in your social circle, or even a new perspective on life, change opens doors you didn’t even know existed.
With new seasons now upon us, it can certainly make us feel out of sorts but soon enough, you’ll realize change is the spice of life (and not the overly spicy kind). Trust the process, lean into the discomfort, and watch how you evolve into a better version of yourself—because that’s the beauty of life’s little surprises.
