With the holiday season fast approaching, many of us are getting in the spirit of shopping! But think CONSUMERISM when it comes to all the sales and discounts, types of stores, online shopping, as well as the countless number of products that society thinks they need and of course want.
So, What Exactly Is Consumerism?
Well, simply put, it’s the idea that a person’s well-being and happiness comes from obtaining consuming goods and material possessions.
And when it comes to this kind of consumer spending, its the economy that benefits. It’s always been a major part of economic growth and policy goals.
It’s an interesting topic and really does help with understanding our society. And government policy.
